That matters mostly for what happens after the busy season. You come back to the same address and the same office that prepared your return — not a call centre, not a ticket number, and not a seasonal desk that has cleared out by May.

Walk In, Call, or Message
There is no single way you have to do this. Walk in without an appointment, book a time, or start the whole thing from your phone — a lot of a tax return or a credit file moves by phone and WhatsApp before anyone drives anywhere.
Notarization is the one exception. That has to happen in person, with valid photo ID, and the document stays unsigned until you are in front of the notary.
